Subject: SnapAMP Power
Greetings,

I may have just roasted my PSU. I assumed that the SnapAmp could run at two different voltages for each motor. there is a VS1 and VS2 input. When I hooked 40V up to VS1 and 80V up to VS2 (Center tap off of the same transformer). I got a puff of smoke out of my rectifier diodes. Can it be operated this way?

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott,

Sorry to hear this.  Yes you can apply two different Voltages to different sides of SnapAmp.  They do have a common GND.

I don't know what you mean by "center tap off the same transformer".

Which supply was damage?

What voltage was the SnapAmp Supply Voltage clamping set at?

Regards

I see my mistake. I am using a PSU that has a secondary coil with a center tap, 80V between the outer legs, and 40 between the center tap and either of the outer. I didnt realize there was a common ground, and wired it in such a way to short.
